History of the Gardner Foundation

In 1993 the Infusion Nurses Society established the Gardner Foundation to provide scholarships for healthcare professionals wishing to pursue careers in intravenous therapy and to promote infusion nursing research and educational programs.

The Gardner Foundation honors Cheryl Gardner, CRNI®. She was a past President of INS, recipient of the 1989 INS Outstanding Performance Award, and at the time of her death, was President of the Infusion Nurses Certification Corporation. Scholarships will continue to be awarded that recognize areas in which Cheryl Gardner excelled: Infusion Innovation, Patient Advocacy, and Enhancing the Image of the infusion nurse.
