Important CRNI® September 2020 Exam Updates

August 5, 2020

In an effort to increase the number of available test dates, INCC has extended the testing period to run from August 15, 2020 through September 30, 2020. We recommend that you schedule your exam as soon as possible and we encourage you to choose a date early in the testing window. In a few days, be on the lookout for an eligibility confirmation email from PSI/AMP, INCC’s testing company, to schedule your exam. We also encourage you to review important updates concerning COVID-19, as well as the precautions being taken to help keep all exam candidates healthy and safe while taking the exam: https://www.psionline.com/important-notice-update-concerning-covid-19-coronavirus/

As an added layer of quality assurance, results of the September 2020 administration will be slightly delayed. Subject matter experts will review the statistical performance of each exam item, as well as all candidates’ comments. This important process helps ensure that each candidate is scored accurately and appropriately. It also helps verify the validity of the passing point for the examination set by INCC. Final score reports will be issued no later than October 30, 2020. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact INCC.

Best of luck on the exam!
–Team INCC

Lived Experiences During COVID-19

Nurses in the United States and around the world have answered the call to care for patients infected with COVID-19 in every imaginable setting, including hospitals, home care, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and testing sites. All nursing roles, including direct care staff, managers, nurse educators, and researchers, make a difference in the lives of patients, healthcare colleagues, and in the community. INS is honored to recognize your contributions, as well as your personal and professional experiences, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for your courage, compassion, dedication, and all you do each day! Supporting Superheroes

During COVID-19, Supporting Superheroes is offering free coaching to anyone supporting the COVID-19 efforts. This is not an attempt to sell you anything, and all sessions are confidential, online and flexible. Volunteers have years of experience supporting executives who operate at the top of their game, even under stressful conditions. Supporting Superheroes believes that right now, nurses deserve all the support they can offer. In times of crisis, stress is normal. However, an ongoing crisis like what we are seeing now can push people from stress into exhaustion, burnout or collapse. Skillful coaching can help people in the game.

If you believe coaching could be useful to you or others in your organization visit www.supportingsuperheroes.org.

Frequently Asked Questions related to COVID-19 Health Care Challenges

INS acknowledges the plight of the public, our members and valued colleagues, as we work collectively to manage the many concerns associated with COVID-19. Many are asking if INS is able to give “new guidance” regarding modification for adherence to the INS Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice. While we are presently unable to recommend modifications to the established standards of practice (e.g., extend dressing change intervals, extend administration set change intervals, etc.), we recognize the challenges many are facing due to the limited number of caregivers and the scarcity of supplies.

Management of Supply Shortages

INS acknowledges the plight of our public, members and valued colleagues as we work collectively to manage the many concerns associated with COVID-19. Many are asking if INS is able to give “new guidance” regarding modification for adherence to the INS Infusion Therapy standards of practice. While we are unable, at this time, to recommend modifications to the established standards of practice (e.g., extend dressing change intervals; extend administration set change intervals), we recognize the challenges many are facing due to scarcity of supplies and also limited number of caregivers.

When experiencing scarcity or depletion of PPE and other health care supplies due to the Covid-19 pandemic, each organization must determine best alternative practices to ensure safest care for the patient and protection for the caregiver.
